#memes This one really speaks to me. Good to remember that in many ways we're all alone in this universe, and maybe try to be kinder to one another. #loneliness #kindness

OH: If there's one thing we're good at, it's not naming.

Temba. Kira at Bashi.

Nog of Ferenginar. Nog at Chin'toka. The beast at Tanagra. Shaka, when the walls fell. Zinda, his face black, his eyes red. Kiazi's children, their faces wet.

Uzani, his army with fists open.
Uzani, his army with fists closed.

Kailash, when it rises.

Darmok. Darmok on the ocean.

Nog at Terok Nor. Fontaine of the holodeck; Fontaine in his lounge. Nog of Ferenginar. The river Temarc in winter.

Shaka. Kiteo, his eyes closed. Koltar, when he drowned in the swamp.

Zima at Anzo. Zima and Bakor!

Sokath, his eyes opened! Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra.

Mirab. Kiteo, his eyes closed. Sokath, his eyes uncovered. Darmok and Jalad on the ocean.

Life in the cave, the cave of Garanoga. The path to Kamata in spring.

Temba, his arms wide: Nog and Fontaine in the lounge.

Why does everyone think running Twitter is an engineering problem? That the departure of staff will cause engineering failures? My dudes, hero worship is one thing, but redefining the world as tech-centric is another level.

#introduction #india I'm a computer programmer, community organiser and digital rights activist based in Bangalore, India.

Growing up as a lonely, bullied kid in the 90s, I found solace in books, computers, and later, the online world. In my quest to find belonging, never quite fulfilled, I've been involved with various communities over the year. A biography in toots:

@testobsessed I am always baffled when organizations create #silos between between executive and off making decisions in fantasy-land. This so rarely ends well, whatever the context.

And yet this pattern plays out nearly everywhere and all of the time. Executives are often "too busy" to understand how their businesses work—even through reliable proxies.

Another day, another round of "oops, this optimization actually made things worse" 😅 Scrapping that code…

My son, who has a remarkably small internet footprint for a gen zer. I'm like, "Dude, it's my favorite show!"

I should mention that whatever happens here, I have no intention of deleting my Twitter account or my tweets. I work hard to ensure URLs on my site are stable, and I have the same attitude to tweets, even though I think of them as more ephemeral.

I started my career at 17 as an apprentice analyst programmer writing S/360 assembler. I literally owe my career to Fred Brooks R.I.P.
